The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, through the generosity of alumni and friends, offers scholarships each year to deserving students in the form of credit toward tuition for the next semester. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least twelve semester hours at USA, including AIS 101 or AIS 301 and have a minimum USA cumulative grade point average of 3.0. A committee consisting of IST faculty and staff will select recipients based on evidence of academic achievement and promise, persistence and dedication, and financial need.

The application consists of three parts: a brief summary of financial status; a short essay by the student illustrating his/her persistence and dedication in pursuit of a degree; and a recommendation by a member of the faculty of the University of South Alabama attesting to the applicant’s academic achievement and promise. In addition, the committee will consider USA cumulative GPA, paying particular attention to the most recent grades earned.
