RESEARCH PROJECTS

Our research endeavors are aimed at understanding the mechanism of growth in crustaceans and, in particular, cellular processes occurring in crustacean larvae. We are also studying the fouling community in a local estuary and developing methods for treating ship's ballast water to counter the introduction of invasive species.

Research Projects:

  • Role of nutrients in cellular growth and cell differentiation in larval epidermal tissues .
  • Role of highly unsaturated fatty acids in limb growth and development in brine shrimp larvae.
  • Cellular enlargement in epidermal tissues in developing shrimp larvae.
  • Changes in the fouling community in nearby estuarine habitats .
