Warm Their Spirits

The Center for Academic Service Learning and Civic Engagement will host a donation drive from  November 16th-30th. We need student teams, organizations, and clubs to encourage and collect donations for local shelters. The group that collects the most donations will win a gift card. Each group participating will be assigned an agency to collect items for. Put a smile on someone's face and give.  We are collecting: Personal Hygiene products, Coats, Scarves, Hats, and Gloves. 

MLK Day of Service 2017

CASLCE needs volunteers to represent South Alabama by participating in community service opportunities with local partnering agencies on Monday, January 16th, 2017.  This is a special time that we all can give back to the community as a collective unit. The schedule for that day will be as follows:

7:30am-8:00am: Students will line up for transportation to assigned agencies in front of the Student Center.
8:30am-11:00am: Students will be in place to participate in various service projects.
12:00pm-1:30pm: The march will begin at Bishop State Community College on 351 N. Broad St. 36603 and will end at Lyons Park on Springhill and Catherine St
2:00pm-4:00pm: Students will be transported back to South Alabama and then will have a complimentary lunch provided by Aramark.

*The university will be providing transportation for this event

*The schedule is subject to change.

*Students may choose to only participate in the march or the day of service, however, they will need to provide their own means of transportation.

 Mobile Project Homeless Connect 2017

Mobile Project Homeless Connect is designed to provide needed services to the homeless of Mobile and Baldwin Counties. The event will provide medical services, legal assistance, dental and vision screenings, and access to housing assistance and mainstream resources (food stamps, state ID’s, Social Security Cards, etc.) This community event will bring government agencies, academia, health care facilities, faith based organizations, transportation, law enforcement/court, United Way, businesses, workforce development and other nonprofit agencies together to provide necessary services for the homeless in our community, at no cost to them.

Mobile Project Homeless Connect is scheduled for Friday, January 27, 2017 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. The location for this one day service fair for the homeless will be at The Grounds, located at 1035 Cody Road North, Mobile, Alabama 36608.  Volunteers are needed from 7 a.m.-2 p.m, volunteers may work in shifts if they are not able to commit for entire time.
