signs Alabama Science in Motion Legislation
(ASIML)

drivers are hired and sent to Pennsylvania
to be trained

- Hire Certified Master
Teacher to implement the project
- Requires coordination
between colleges of Education and Arts
and Sciences
- Funded by the State
legislature as part of the public education
budget (1994-start
up $1.97 million - present $2.47 million)
- Visit each participant
a minimum of 1 time per month
- Equip each truck
with over $100,000 worth of high tech
science equipment: GC, FTIR, analytical
balances, pH meters, Spec 20D, computers
- Allow students to
perform investigations in small groups
in their classroom setting
- Generate No additional
work for teacher
- Provide all necessary
equipment and chemicals needed to conduct
hands-on lab exercises
- many of the chemicals
are supplied by the University Chemistry
