RESEARCH INTEREST

Main research is in area of host immunologic responses to parasitic infection as they relate to the pathogenesis of disease. Special emphasis on mechanisms relating to the regulation of pulmonary granuloma formation in toxocariasis and the development of a synchronous, artificial model for in vitro studies. Also interested in the regulation of eosinophil function and characterization of host pathologies as a result of sustained high eosinophilias. Currently, working on genetic vaccines (naked DNA) for helminthic diseases. Most recent studies have focused on role of perinatal infection of humans with Toxocara canis and its possible relationship to the development of asthma, especially in minority populations.
