MSG Joshua David Dumond


MSG Joshua David Dumond was born in Farmington, New Mexico in 1981. He entered the United States Army in March 2001. He graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as a Cavalry Scout at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His first tour of duty was with B Troop, 1st Squadron, 1st US Cavalry Regiment in Buedingen, Germany, where he served in all Bradley Crewman positions as well as Section Sergeant. MSG Dumond’s Service with 1/1 Cavalry included a 16 month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 1.

In 2006, he was assigned to D Troop, 1st Battalion (ABN), 509th Infantry Regiment at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, La.  While assigned to 1/509th (ABN), he served as an Airborne Reconnaissance Platoon Sergeant. In September 2007 he was assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  While assigned to Shadow Troop, 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, he served as a Section Leader and Platoon Sergeant. MSG Dumond’s service in the 82nd Airborne Division included his second deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In August 2011, MSG Dumond was assigned to the MCoE Henry Caro Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Fort Benning, Ga. During his service at the NCOA, MSG Dumond served as a Small Group Leader and Assistant Branch Chief in both the Maneuver Senior Leader Course and Armor Advanced Leader Course. In December 2013 MSG Dumond was assigned to and deployed with a Joint Task Force in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon returning from his Deployment to Afghanistan, MSG Dumond was assigned Armor Basic Officer Leader Course as the B Troop, 2nd Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment Troop First Sergeant. Upon completion of his time with ABOLC, MSG Dumond was assigned to the 1st Battalion (ABN), 509th Infantry Regiment at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, LA as the D Troop (RECON) First Sergeant. MSG Dumond currently serves as the Senior Military Instructor at University of South Alabama Army ROTC Program.
