Director of Human Resources, Spectrum Resorts manages Turquoise Place

Peggy Wilson grew up in a family grocery business and she believes this is where her hospitality training began.  After selling the family business in 1987, she went to work as a Server at the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Point Clear, AL.  Peggy knew that taking care of people is what she loved to do and was able to move into Human Resources to accomplish that goal.  During her tenure at the Grand, she worked every role in Human Resources and was promoted to the Director position in 2002.  In 2005, she moved into the Corporate Director of Human Resources role with the PCH Resorts and Hotels, Inc. management company.  During the next few years, Retirement Systems of Alabama was building new properties and renovating existing properties to add to their portfolio.  She worked closely with Marriott to implement training and standards for the eight RSA Marriott and Renaissance properties throughout the state.  During her tenure there, she oversaw payroll, benefits, standards, and training for 1,900 employees and was the point of contact for the Human Resources Managers/Directors of the eight properties.  In 2013, she had an opportunity to join Spectrum Resorts and is currently the Director of Human Resources.  Spectrum Resorts manages Turquoise Place in Orange Beach, Alabama and The Beach Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama and employs 250 employees year round with an addition of 150 employees during Spring/Summer season. 

Carissa Barrios

Front Office Supervisor, Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel

Carissa Barrios grew up in a small town in Lafitte, Louisiana. During Katrina, Carissa and her family were displaced, and the Presley family gave them a place to stay and showed them the highest level of hospitality. Carissa says that the impact they made on her life is what makes her want to create a happy and memorable impact for all that she meets. Knowing her love for people, Carissa started college at University of South Alabama and became a Hospitality and Tourism Management major. Carissa is the President of HTM Club and was the Treasurer the prior year. Carissa will graduate a year early, in May 2018, so she wanted to make sure she had experience in the industry. She began working for the Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel as a Server in February 2016.  During this time she also participated in the first F.L.I.G.H.T Program in Housekeeping for Spectrum Resorts at The Beach Club where she learned Servant Leadership hands on and earned a scholarship. She began working at the Front Desk at The Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel in March 2017. During her time at the Riverview, Carissa gained many guest service comments, consequently, earning her two Anna K. Sanders Gold Key Awards and an Employee of the Month recognition. Carissa participated in the second phase of the F.L.I.G.H.T program as a Housekeeping Supervisor and earned a scholarship and a Core Value Communication Award. In August 2016, she was promoted to her current position, Front Office Supervisor at the Renaissance Riverview Plaza Hotel where she supervises 12 employees.
