Autumn Courtney

  • Where are you from? I am from all over! I’ve moved all around the world my whole life due to my dad’s job.
  • What is your major? My major is Speech and Hearing Sciences.
  • What languages do you speak? I speak English and a little Italian. I also have taken some Spanish classes.
  • Where have you traveled in the U.S. and abroad? I have traveled to 19 out of the 50 U.S. states and have lived in 5 of them! I lived in Florida, California, Louisiana, Alabama, and Ohio. Abroad, I have been to 10 European Countries, including Iceland! I also lived in Italy for 3 years.
  • What do you like to do when you are not studying? I like to relax when I am not studying. I am also a Resident Assistant and love interacting with my residents and building team. I enjoy catching up on whatever show I am watching at the time and spending time with my friends and family. One of my top favorite things to do though is to go to the beach!
  • Why did you want to be a peer mentor? I wanted to be a peer mentor because I love different cultures and interacting with different cultures. Not only will this peer mentoring opportunity allow me to interact with people of different cultures, it will also allow me to use what I have learned in my Major classes to help others.

  • Where are you from? Birmingham, Alabama
  • What is your major? Biology and Spanish
  • What languages do you speak? English and Spanish
  • Where have you traveled in the U.S. and abroad? I have traveled to many places throughout the U.S and I have been abroad to Spain, Jamaica, the Caiman Islands and Puerto Rico.
  • What do you like to do when you're not studying? I like to play sports, listen to music and hang out with friends.
  • Why did you want to be a peer mentor? I wanted to be a peer mentor to have the opportunity to work in an international setting. I also love connecting and networking with others from various backgrounds, so I saw this as a way to help engage with students from around the world.

  • Where are you from? I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. 
  • What is your major? I am a Pre-Nursing student.
  • What languages do you speak? My native language is English, but I am currently pursuing fluency in French. 
  • Where have you traveled in the U.S. and abroad? I have only traveled inside the U.S. I have plans of going abroad in the near future.
  • What do you like to do when you're not studying? I enjoy going to the river and spending time with loved ones. I also like to nap a lot.
  • Why did you want to be a peer mentor? To be able to interact with people from all over the world!

  • Where are you from? I was born in Huntsville, AL, but I was raised in Daleville, Al.
  • What is your major? My major is Speech and Hearing Sciences.
  • What languages do you speak? I speak English, but I would like to be fluent in American sign language. 
  • Where have you traveled in the US and abroad? Within the United States, I have been to Alabama, Florida, Washington, Louisiana, Texas, Ohio, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia. Outside of the country, I have been to the Bahamas, the virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, and Canada. 
  • What do you like to do when you're not studying? I enjoy being with friends, participating in events on campus, and spending time with family.
  • Why do you want to be a peer mentor? I want to be a peer mentor because I want to interact with and understand people from different cultural backgrounds. I do not want to be limited to only talking to people I am familiar with. I also understand that it can be really scary to go to school in a different country, so having a mentor can be a big help.
