This year, we will dig a little deeper into the conference experience and offer badges to presenters and attendees. We hope these badges will inspire you to explore topics covered at CoTL 2017 and continue the discussion on activity and assessment after the conference ends.

 

To earn the ATTENDEE badge:  attendee badge

1.  Attend two conference activities.

  • Conference includes keynotes, presentations, workshops, informal networking opportunities, poster sessions, etc. Participating in social media using the #COTL2017 hashtag also counts as an activity.

2.  Create a post.

  • Provide a brief description and reflection of two conference activities (min. 150 words). Be sure to include the type of activity and a brief title or topic.

  • Some prompts for reflection are the following:   My main takeaways were … An insight I had was ... This relates to my institution … A compelling point was ... In a connection with another session ... As a result of attending … An “aha moment” I had ... I'd like to explore … A contact I made … There was a transformative relationship … I saw deep learning ...

  • Feel free to include links to materials related to the activities or embed a photo or other media.

  • End with a simple action plan. What are three ways you can follow up on your conference experience? For example, how could you put what you’ve learned into practice or with whom could you share a specific thing you learned?

3.  Email the post.

  • Subject: [Last name] - Reflection

  • To: cotl@southalabama.edu 

  • Your badge will be issued to you through Credly.com. You’ll receive an email from Credly when it is time to claim your badge.

Friday, June 9 is the last day to submit evidence for a badge.

To earn the PRESENTER badge:

1.  Present your session.  presenter badge

  • Multiple presenters from the same session may apply, but must do so separately.

2.  Email presentation materials.

  • Send handouts, slides, etc. to cotl@southalabama.edu with presenter(s) names in subject line.

3.  Create a post.

  • Provide a brief description and reflection on your presentation (min. 250 words).

  • Some prompts for reflection include: As a result of presenting … A connection I made ... My next step ... I'd like to explore … An insight as a result of presenting was … A contact I made … Next time I present … An attendee asked … Participants interacted by … I was surprised when … Compared to my expectation, participation was … Reaction to the planned activity

4.  Email the post.
