Hospitality and Tourism Management Area V Professional Studies Required Courses
The following courses are required for the degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of South Alabama. These courses are in addition to the courses listed on the STARS guide that you accessed. These courses fulfill degree requirements in Area V of the Alabama General Studies Core Curriculum and may be taken at your community college.
Please refer to the STARS guide for all requirements. Also note: Only one half of the credit hours required for a degree may be transferred from a community college. While the total number of transfer hours will appear on the transcript, the academic department offering the major will determine how they may apply to the degree.

Students must complete:
BUS 241 - Principles of Accounting I (3 SH)
HMM 105 - Principles of Hospitality Management (3 SH)
SPH 106 - Oral Communication or SPH 107 - Public Speaking (3 SH)
The remaining hours in Area V must be fulfilled by the requirements of the institution to which the student plans to transfer. Please refer to the Area V page, the institutional home page, or the catalog for a major in Hotel, Restaurant, and Hospitality Management.
Areas I-IV = total 41 semester hours
Area V additional = total 15 semester hours
Total Areas I–IV plus Area V = 56 semester hours
