WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA!

We hope that your college years here are healthy and happy. However, in the event that you need medical attention while you are a student at USA, rest assured that you have excellent healthcare conveniently available to you. Our goal at the Student Health Center (SHC) is to keep students healthy so that they can engage productively in the academic affairs of USA, improving academic performance and increasing retention. We strive to accomplish this through health education, health promotion and primary healthcare.

We invite you to take advantage of your health facility, the Student Health Center, and its service. My job as Director of Operations is to create and maintain a student-focused, student-friendly healthcare setting where you will receive cost-effective, quality healthcare from fully trained and licensed professionals. I am committed to providing excellence in all of our healthcare endeavors on the USA campus. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals is here to serve you.

The Student Health Center is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are located at 5870 Alumni Drive in the newly renovated building located in front of the Student Center.

All students born after 1956 must provide proof of (2) two immunizations containing the measles vaccine. One must have been an MMR vaccine. In addition, a TB Questionnaire must be completed prior to registration. Beginning the Fall semester 2011, all international students and students living in the resident halls must provide proof of having received immunization for bacterial meningitis. Student Health will have these vaccinations available during orientation.

We are happy that you have chosen the University of South Alabama, and we will be happy to serve you if you need medical care.

Yours in health,

Ryan Ferguson
