Planned Giving

The purpose of the University of South Alabama Annual Fund is to encourage annual gifts to the University from alumni and friends. These funds are used to enhance programs in each of our colleges and schools.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

USA's School of Continuing Education and Special Programs recently established the Math Learning Center. This center is designed to assist students in the Developmental Studies Program to prepare for college-level coursework. The center is based on the math emporium model which has been used successfully by Purdue, Virginia Tech, and Auburn.

Dreaming Big in the College of Nursing

USA College of Nursing student Mike Martin is pursing his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. He said it was a freak accident aboard his U.S. Coast Guard ship in the early 90s that nearly took his friend's life and led him into the nursing profession. Martin had no medical experience at the time, but when his friend was injured, he stepped in and helped save the shipmate's life and realized his own career path.

Remembering USA with John Gibson

John GibsonJohn Gibson of Norcross, Georgia, is an active member of USA's National Alumni Association. His fond memories of USA have inspired him to remain connected to the University and to other USA alumni in the Atlanta area.

When John Gibson, Class of '71, looks back at his days at South, he remembers going downtown to cheer on the Jaguar basketball team with his Sigma Nu brothers in the Mobile Municipal Auditorium (now called the Mobile Civic Center). He says that he can even tell you a few stories, now that the statute of limitations has passed.
