Freshman Hammer Awards

History: These awards were first made in 2000 and consist of Estwing-type geological rock hammers or "geopicks". Up to six are awarded each year to outstanding freshman students (those with the best academic performance in the GY 111 and GY 112 sequence of courses). Award winners do not have to be Geology majors.
