Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
BSN-DNP and Post-Graduate Certificate to DNP

The Department of Health and Human Services has funded a $1,543,840 proposal to prepare graduates of the Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing graduates to become culturally competent Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners/ Doctorate of Nursing Practice.

Graduates of this program will complete the Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program and earn the DNP degree. Graduates will be eligible to take the Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (FPNP) certification exam.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing has set a 2015 date
for full implementation of the DNP as the entry level for advanced
practice.

 

Requirements for Admission

The requirements for admission to the DNP program are located on
the DNP Home Page and in the University of South Alabama Undergraduate/Graduate Bulletin.


While NFPP/DNP classes are taught online, all students enrolled in CMN 548 (first NFPP clinical course) are required to attend a mandatory two (2) day orientation. Attendance is required and will allow for questions and interaction with course faculty. Various clinical skills workshops will be held during the orientation.
