NSF COMPETES Act RCR Training Requirement
NSF's Implementation of Section 7009 of the America COMPETES Act requires institutions in receipt of NSF funds provide appropriate training and oversight in the responsible and ethical conduct of research for undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers who are supported by NSF to conduct research.

Additional information and resources to comply with these new requirements is posted here.

The NSF requires PIs to submit a mentoring plan (America COMPETES Act, Section 7008) with any proposal that will support postdocs. This plan must be written into the proposal or NSF will return your proposal without review. While the Office of Research Compliance cannot author this individualized plan for each PI, we do have resources available that may help in writing and carrying out such a plan. The PI's mentoring activities must be reported on annual and final reports to NSF.

Guidelines have been developed for mentoring plans that may be used in addressing RCR in grant applications available here.
