Student Health Center

The mission of the University of South Alabama Student Health Center and University Urgent Care Clinic is to provide efficient and cost-effective health care services relevant to the needs of the University Community. We strive to accomplish this through targeted health education and wellness promotion, as well as excellence in primary health care.

2014-2015 Strategic Goals

  • Explore partnering with the USA Department of Campus Recreation and the USA Counseling Center to relocate the clinic to a more convenient location for our students that is in closer proximity to the Recreation Center. This concept would be designed to increase convenience for students and University employees, as well as support the development of a more comprehensive health and wellness program. This synergistic partnership would add depth of services in important areas such as nutritional counseling and athletic trainers for evening and weekend club sports and intramurals.

  • Improve the volume of foot traffic with a better strategic location on the main campus. Also, enhance JagTran transportation to the Student Health Center by expediting transportation times.

  • Improve mental health services available for our students and faculty and staff by developing collaborative relationships with the USA Department of Psychiatry and AltaPointe Health Systems via a psychiatric residency rotation at the Student Health Center and University Urgent Care Clinic.

  • Evaluate the possibility of moving all health charges and fees to the Bursarís Office for collection, eliminating the need for students to have to pay out of pocket for their co-pays and other health charges on the day of service.
