August 29, 2000. The electronic newsletter of the University Library, University of South Alabama, published irregularly as a service to the University Community.
The University Library Interlibrary Loan Office and Copy Service are now offering a new delivery option for your ILL/Copy Service articles -- desktop delivery via the web.
Using Prospero, a web-based document delivery system, we can now provide full-text document delivery to your desktop. All you need is an e-mail address and Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your workstation. (If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader click here.) The Prospero software converts scanned documents into PDF format. They are then placed on the University Library's web server. Prospero automatically sends you, the patron, an e-mail message with the URL and a PIN number to retrieve the document. You may access the University Library web server to retrieve your documents from anywhere, your home or office or an Internet café in Uzbekistan.
Follow the instructions provided to download and print the document using Adobe Acrobat Reader. The next time you request an ILL or Copy Service article, select for Delivery Method, "WEB--MUST have e-mail" and try out this new service.
