Smart Internet Searching

A Guide to Evaluating Webpages

Using Advanced Searching

Google Books - Google is scanning books and you may find links to pages in those books. Be aware: most books less than 75 years old are still under copyright and may not be available as a scanned images.

Google Scholar - Google has secured agreements with many journal publishers to allow indexing of articles. For most you will have to go through a library-subscribed database to access the full-texted of these articles.

Free Books - Open access and out-of-copyright books

Open-Access Journals - Many newer journals allow free access to articles. Carefully evaluate anything that is free.
