New Vacation Policy for 12-Month Faculty in Allied Health, Library, Medicine, Nursing

In April 2000 and after months of discussion and debate, the Faculty Senate passed a resolution calling for a vacation policy for all faculty in colleges (and the Library) in which faculty are predominately on 12-month contracts. The Senate asked all affected units to be polled or consulted, and was told that the faculty in Allied Health, the Library, and Medicine supported the policy. At the time of the resolution, the Senate was informed that faculty in the College of Nursing had expressed reservations. Thus Nursing was not included in the original Senate resolution. A link to that resolution is located below.

At the June 21, 2000 Senate meeting, President Moulton announced that the administration had accepted the Senate resolution and that the College of Nursing's objections had been overcome, with the result that Nursing is now to be included in the official policy when it is promulgated.
