Discussion about “Barracoon” and a tour of the new Heritage House Museum
Common Read and African American Studies event in partnership with Mobile Parks and
Recreation’s Robert Hope Community Center where there will be a Common Read Genealogy
activity for an intergenerational group of students and community members of all ages,
and a tour of the new Heritage House Museum. The bus for this tour will pick up interested
students from the Student Center Flag Pole.

Story Exchange
The University of South Alabama will work with Narrative4 to utilize the story exchange
as a tool to develop empathy and deep listening skills in addition to the importance
of community narratives.

The University of South Alabama Archeology Museum showcases "Unwritten: The Archaeology & Oral History of Jim Crow Mobile." This exhibit is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The exhibit features families who lived in Africatown, near Davis Avenue, and Down the Bay. The exhibit ends in May 2024.
- The Archaeology Museum has also stocked copies of “Barracoon” in the Archaeology Museum Gift Shop and staff, faculty, students, and alumni receive a 10% discount.
