Glass Artist, Cal Breed
The Department of Visual Arts presents visiting artist Cal Breed on Monday, April 28, 2014. Cal will present a lecture in the USA Marx Library Auditorium at 2:00 pm and a glass blowing demonstration at 3:30 pm in the Glass Arts Building. All events are free and open to the public.
Cal is one of Alabama’s most well-known hot glass artists. His work has been featured on Oprah’s “O” list, was a nominee for Martha Stewart’s “American Made Competition,” and has been featured in numerous national magazines. Cal has also been the subject of a documentary produced by Alabama Public Television, titled “Alabama Craft: Tradition and Innovation,” and he currently has a solo exhibition at the Huntsville Museum of Art. Cal produces his work at his studio and business, Orbix Hot Glass, in Fort Payne, Alabama. Annual Fall Art Sale
The Visual Arts Department will be hosting an art sale at the end of Fall semester. It is open to the general public in the courtyard and gallery of the Visual Arts Complex. Students and faculty will be participating. All studio areas of the department will be represented in the annual art sale. The areas of concentration include: ceramics, glass, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture. We look forward to seeing the faculty, staff, students, and public at this annual event.
